January 2024 Wrap-Up
January turned out to be rather a fabulous month. Despite January being roughly 636 days long, I enjoyed celebrating a milestone birthday at the end of the month with friends and family and felt extremely blessed. The first snowdrops were out on January 1st which felt really early this year. I enjoyed the pantomime viewing party which was great fun, had an exciting trip to Leeds, went to a gorgeous spa and spent times with loved ones.
There was also a more relaxed approach to reading as I refuse to get as stressed as I did last year. I am now living by the quote 'create a life you don't want to take a holiday from' which has become my mantra.
Books Read and Reviewed in January 2024
Other posts of note
Goodreads Book Challenge
3/65 books read. I am already thinking of revising the amount to read down a notch. It's only January.
5 Star Reads
One this month - Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow. I can't do justice as to how beautiful the writing is in this book
BBC Big Read Challenge
Funny story, I have just read a book which I would have out money on being in the BBC Big Read List. It wasn't and I feel slightly outraged about it. So still on 24/100
Read all about my BBC Big Read Challenge.
To be Read
I have put together my current to do list, and I have 32 books left to read on my To Be Read Pile. I have a feeling this will get slightly bigger as I was kindly given lots of lovely book tokens for my birthday. ahem.
Looking Forward to
My wonderful husband's birthday. We have friends coming for the weekend who I haven't seen in forever, the next in my Year of Books present and I have the next experience to enjoy in my Year of Adventures and Experiences gift from my husband. Also, can I add lighter nights. And I will definitely be reading my next Miss Read. I've missed her so much.
Next week normal service will be resumed and will be back with a review of a wonderful classic....that does not feature on the BBC Big Read list. Insert cross face emoji here. Have a great weekend.
