My To Be Read Pile - Autumn 2021 Update
I do hope that you have all had a lovely weekend. Our weekend was spent looking at our soon-to-be new home and it was so good. As the estate agent said at the end of our visit 'You are still smiling'. Well folks, I am beaming and cannot wait to get moved. We were lucky because my Sister came to view the house as well with us. Chris summed it up beautifully by saying that we were showing her 'our home'.
To get back to the post, people this is happening! I am finally typing up my updated To Be Read post ready for Autumn. I've only been promising this for about 6 months or so. You may remember I published the last one way back in March, but it was definitely time to refresh this.
I've sorted the books into a couple of different categories; 2020 Books - Kindle are books that I had on my kindle at the end of 2020; 2021 Books - Kindle are books purchased in 2021; Big Read Books - Books on the Big Read List and then physical books. I'm also going to use this for my To Be Read section for my monthly wrap-up, so I can provide a more accurate figure, as oppose to not having a clue. Here we go!
2020 Books - Kindle (7 Books)
- U is for Undertow - Sue Grafton - Super keen to read this, but I am debating whether to read the others in the series beforehand first so I can catch up with what is going on. Love this author.
- Twelve Days of Christmas. by Debbie Macomber - I always love a Debbie Macomber Christmas novel. Currently following an Instagram account posting Christmas images every day. I am OBSESSED!
- Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid - older novel from one of my favourite authors. Can't wait to see what this is like. it has all the 'sliding doors' feels.
- Northern Lights - Nora Roberts - As well as being obsessed with Christmas, i'm obsessed with books set in Alaska. I read this years ago and am looking forward to reading this again.
- Christmas at the Little Knitting Box by Helen J. Rolfe - It's another Christmas novel. This is the first in the series.
- Snowflakes and Mistletoe at the Inglenook Inn by Helen J. Rolfe - and this is the second!
- Finding Love at the Christmas Market by Jo Thomas - I've been really enjoying the novels of Jo Thomas and this was the Christmas novel from last year. Can't wait to read it.
2021 Books - Kindle (6 Books)
- The School at Thrush Green by Miss Read - September's choice as part of the #missreadreadalong
- Friends at Thrush Green by Miss Read - October's choice as part of the #missreadreadalong. I tend to purchase these in pairs.
- Red Button by Keith Eldred - Keith and his lovely wife Janet reached out and asked if I would be interesting in reviewing their novel. This is a Christmas Carol prequel. I'm in love already.
- A Rose Petal Summer by Katie Fforde - This will be also be coming on holiday with me. We leave in Autumn, enjoy summer and then return in Autumn.
- One by One by Ruth Ware - Written by the author of The Woman in Cabin 10 which was a cracking thriller. Looking forward to reading this.
- Ungodly by Brandon Riddick - Recommended by my friend @fictionaddictionanagela over on Instagram. apparently it's terrifying. I'm planning on reading this for Halloween and scaring myself silly!
Big Read Books (5 Books)
- The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis - Children's classic, much beloved.
- Emma by Jane Austen - Classic about match-making Emma. Did you know the film Clueless was based on this book.
Physical Books (15 Books)
- What Would You do if you Weren't Afraid? - Michal Oshman - I saw this in the Independent Summer Books Catalogue and it looked fascinating.
- The Night Hawks by Elly Griffiths - Another of my favourite authors. I always purchase the latest Dr Ruth Galloway as soon as it is released.
- The Long Call by Ann Cleeves - Since reading Raven Black, I cannot put this author down. This is the first in the Two Rivers Series
- The Appeal by Janice Hallett - Can't wait to read this, my friends over in Instagram love this.
- Crossed Skis by Carol Carnac - Years ago for Jolabokaflod, I was given on of the British Crime Library books and loved it. This is the same series and is set on a skiiing holiday.
- The Darkest Evening by Ann Cleeves - Another Ann Cleeves, this time featuring probably her most famous detective Vera Stanhope. This has all the Christmas vibes.
- Wintering by Katherine May - Again I've seen this book everywhere, it seems appropriate to read it at the moment as we are preparing for winter.
- The Summer without You by Karen Swan - One of the older books by my favourite authors. I'm now debating how many books I can squeeze into my suitcase for our holiday.
- Those who are Loved by Victoria Hislop - Author of the Island. This is definitely coming on holiday with me.
- The Foundling by Stacey Halls - I loved The Familiars and was keen to pick this one up. This will definitely be read in Autumn. The cover is a work of art.
- A Special Relationship by Douglas Kennedy - Having just recovered from reading The Dead Heart, I'm now ready to read another novel by this great author. I have read this one before and it was beautiful.
- The Castaways by Lucy Clarke - Picked this up at the same time as The Appeal as part of a BOGOF offer. I don't need clothes on holiday right?
- The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov - Do not adjust your sets folks, a sci-fi novel is really in this list. This is the next choice for our family book club. As you know, I read relatively little sci-fi so am looking forward to trying this one out.
- The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman - Technically, this is not on my To Be Read pile right now, but will be published and delivered shortly, so will be on it shortly after I hit publish. I cannot wait!
And that's it, by my reckoning that is 33 books on my To Be Read Pile. of course, I'll still share with you another of my favourite backlist books. If we are talking goals, I would like to clear my 2020 kindle books, but I appreciate we have a lot going on at the moment with the move, so I'm not going to stress if this does not happen.
Thank you for reading all about my To Be Read Pile. I will be back on Friday with a review about a book featured on my list. Have a great day. xx
