One of my favourite authors remains Rosamunde Pilcher and indeed Winter Solstice sits firmly in one of my all-time favourite books. I read this every Christmas without fail. Starting her writing in 1951, she published novels under the name of Jane Fraser, but it is her sweeping novels published later in her career that I particularly love. Please do not be put off by the size of the books, you will race through them and hardly notice the time passing.
